VPN Integration Benefits
- Enhanced privacy protection for sensitive browsing
- Geographic location flexibility for different containers
- Additional encryption layer for container data
- Separate VPN connections for different browsing contexts

Container vs. Profiles
It's important to understand the difference between containers and browser profiles:
Feature | Containers | Profiles |
---|---|---|
Data Separation | Cookies, sessions, storage | Complete browser data |
Setup Complexity | Simple, within same browser | Separate browser instances |
Resource Usage | Lightweight | Higher memory usage |
Use Case | Activity separation | Complete environment isolation |
Common Questions
Are Firefox containers and Multi-account containers the same?
Firefox Containers and Multi-Account Containers are complementary features that help you keep your online activities organized. While both options allow you to separate your browsing into different container tabs, the Firefox Containers feature allows you to always open new tabs in containers.
On the other hand, Multi-Account Containers is an extension developed by Mozilla that fully optimizes Firefox containers and unlocks its full potential offering additional features, such as site assignments and integration with Mozilla VPN.
How does this compare to the Facebook Container extension?
Facebook Container isolates Facebook and Facebook-owned sites automatically. The Firefox Multi-Account Containers is a more general extension that allows you to create containers and determine which sites open in each container. This extension can be customized to suit your needs for multiple sites and multiple logins, but takes more time to set up than Facebook Container.
You can use Multi-Account Containers to manually create a custom container for Facebook and assign facebook.com to it. However, unlike Facebook Container, Multi-Account Containers doesn't prevent you from opening non-Facebook sites in this custom container.
Can I use both Multi-Account Containers and Facebook Container?
Yes, but you need to be careful. Don't use Multi-Account Container to assign facebook.com to a container, and then try installing Facebook Container. If you are a Multi-Account Containers user and want to use both add-ons, unassign facebook.com, messenger.com, and instagram.com first, then install Facebook Container.
